The Big Read Book Club - Week 4: Public and private celebrity selves

This summer Kingston University wants to keep the Kingston community connected, from new students to alumni and everyone in between. We will be hosting our first-ever series of virtual Book Club meetings, centred around the 2020 Big Read Airhead, written by Newsnight host Emily Maitlis. You'll get to see the chapters of Airhead through the eyes of KU experts in weekly virtual talks from 8 July to 16 September 2020 - a chance you won't want to miss.

The fourth Big Read Book Club talk will be focusing on the chapters titled Stuck in a Lift with Alan Partridge (p.320); Simon Cowell: The Vampire Hour (p.126); Piers Morgan becomes a Feminist (p.153).

This week, Professor Will Brooker will explore public and private identity, and how they are affected by the phenomenon of ‘celebrity'. The Steve Coogan / Alan Partridge chapter will be the main focus, with supporting points from the chapters on Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan.

Please note, booking closes at 3pm the day before the event.

Booking is essential to attend this event.
