This exhibition is the culmination of a project run by the Centre for Iris Murdoch Studies, Kingston University, supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund. Central exhibits on display are letters from the novelist and philosopher Iris Murdoch (1919-1999) to her lifelong friend and fellow philosopher Philippa Foot (1920-2010). Photographs, books and other items from the Murdoch Archive at Kingston University and the Foot Archive at Somerville College, Oxford, where Iris and Philippa met as undergraduates, combine to tell the tale of two remarkable 20th-century women and highlight their place in British Heritage.
