Department of Performing Arts

Performing arts at Kingston offers a dynamic, exploratory environment. Many of our courses are relatively new, which means we are fresh, ambitious and innovative. Drama and dance students benefit from close associations with professional companies and theatres. Music students have lessons from top London professionals including legendary music producer, Tony Visconti. Our diverse performing arts students often participate in multidisciplinary performance projects which expose them to real-life experiences and develop their skills for future employment opportunities.

Postgraduate Research

The Department of Performing Arts, within the School of Arts, has a lively research culture in which practice-based and written creativity inform each other.

Across our subject areas of Dance, Theatre and Performance and Music, we foster an inclusive and interdisciplinary approach to the study of performance, movement and music practices, cultural histories and performance philosophies through the development of theoretical perspectives and practice-as-research projects. A distinctive social and political engagement is embedded in our critical and embodied practices.

Areas of supervision include: Dance, Music, and Theatre and Performance
