Research in the Department of Criminology and Sociology

Welcome to the Department for Criminology and Sociology research hub. We offer considerable expertise in a range of interdisciplinary subjects while our dedicated Centre for Research in Communities, Identities and Difference (CResCID) offers innovative responses to contemporary social problems.

Our departmental research expertise is organized in five different research areas:

Research areas contribute to the department's research culture and scholarship. They also enable social enterprise and impact activities.

All staff in the department are research-active through grant awards, collaborations and publications. Our research-active environment informs study and programmes for undergraduates and postgraduates. We share our research through academic, media and public events.

To learn more about our research and social enterprise opportunities please contact the Associate Dean Research & Enterprise, Professor Robert Blackburn
