Kingston Business School accreditations

Kingston Business School Accreditations

Institutional Level:

AACSB

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business is a major international accreditation. It requires ongoing alignment with 15 standards, and a focus on delivering the Schools vision and mission. (i.e. our themes of "international", "entrepreneurial" and "innovative", and an "inclusive" perspective with regard to learning and research.)

Only 29 business schools in the UK have achieved this accreditation and, of these, just four are in post '92 universities.

Programme Level:

We also have many accreditations on individual programmes. These are with professional bodies as appropriate to the subject matter of the programme/course. They encompass professional body memberships for students, professional exam exemptions, and mapped accreditations, certifying the programme (which may include providing an extra award).

  • AMBA accredits the MBA (Kingston, Moscow and DLMBA; all cohorts), the MSc International Business Management (plus pathways) and the DBA
  • Students are offered membership

CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) UG and PG HR programmes

  • The CIPD is a professional body for HR professionals, and offers professional diplomas

  • The CIPD does not allow compensations of marginal fails for UG or PG
  • The HR specialism on the new BSc Business Management (with BEx) will be CIPD-accredited, and we are putting into place a non-compensation route for students that want to choose this path, while still allowing general BM students to be compensated

Under the accreditation agreement with the CMI, all students enrolled on the accredited programmes (starting with intake 2015/16) have CMI membership paid for them by Kingston for the duration of their studies. Successful graduation will also result in their receiving a CMI qualification (the level offered is based on the mapping process undertaken by the CMI).

As the programmes are mapped to the CMI\'s learning outcomes, an annual QA step is put into place around the time of the MAB/PAB, to ensure that we are delivering appropriate content. The QA Manager for the CMI will arrange this visit. (The standard module boxes prepared for our own QA processes should cover this requirement.)

Specific to the accredited post-experience postgraduate programmes, the CMI's "Chartered Manager" status can also be offered by Kingston; this can be given to post-experience students following their graduation and successful completion of a module including personal development planning.

The CMI have been advised of student enrolled on the accredited courses, and students will receive an email notifying them of their membership. This email will also notify them of their login details to access the CMI Management Direct web portal, which is a source of further learning materials, including e-books, templates and videos.
