Why study history?

Choose Kingston for your history degree and receive innovative teaching, via collaboration with local and wider communities in historic Kingston and London, and with other institutions in the university sector and beyond. Our Centre for the Historical Record is a trailblazer in the digitisation of historical resources.

If you are interested in the history of the modern world and how the past influences the present our courses explore the history of many countries and cover many different histories: of people, cultures and societies, and of states and governments.

Postgraduate courses

Our History MA covers international and imperial history, twentieth-century British social and political history, and the eighteenth century and French Revolution.

You'll also develop research skills in the use of archives, oral history and digital skills, and be introduced to the latest historical debates. You will benefit from our guest speaker programme, and public history blog.

We also offer postgraduate research degrees for more specialised research.
