Working during your studies: guidance for EEA and Swiss students

There will be no change to the rights and status of EU citizens currently living in the UK until 30 June 2021. You and your family can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living in the UK.

If you're the close relative of an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen

You have the right to reside if you're a close relative of an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen. Close relatives are:

  • a spouse or civil partner
  • children
  • grandchildren under 21
  • dependent parents or grandparents

You may still have the right to reside in the UK if you're not a close relative, but you'll probably need a residence document.
