Kingston Business School has joined an elite group of global institutions awarded prestigious international accreditation by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). A hallmark of excellence in business education, the accreditation has been earned by just 5 per cent of the world's business schools.

AACSB International is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools offering undergraduate, masters and doctoral programmes in business and accounting. Only 777 of the more than 16,000 schools that grant business degrees worldwide have received the AACSB seal of approval.

"This accolade cements our standing as a leading global provider in business education, offering an international, entrepreneurial and innovative experience for staff and students from a wide range of backgrounds," he added.

"Our ability to meet the accreditation team's rigorous standards further exemplifies Kingston Business School's excellence in teaching, research and business engagement as well as our commitment to building strong international links and offering students opportunities to develop valuable business experience, both at home and abroad."

The accreditation comes at an exciting time for Kingston Business School, which is about to launch a new programme of three-year integrated business degree courses designed to ensure graduates enter the workplace with the vital hands-on experience employers are seeking. During their course, students will have the opportunity to spend up to nine months on a work or research placement, study overseas or start up their own business, giving them the edge in their careers while still completing their degrees within three years.

"To make sure our students are ready to hit the ground running when they start their placements, we are placing particularly strong emphasis on our new business readiness programme within the courses," Professor Tuninga said. "Students will learn how to deliver to deadlines, organise an effective team and build a professional network while also benefiting from specialist, tailored careers support."

Kingston Business School, which is based at Kingston University's Kingston Hill campus, is well known for its business acumen and entrepreneurial expertise. It has been pivotal in helping the University produce more graduate start-up companies than any other higher education institution in the United Kingdom for six years, seeing it top the tables in the Higher Education Business and Community Interaction Survey.

Executive vice-president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International Robert Reid said the recognition represented the highest achievement for an educational institution that awards business degrees. "It takes a great deal of self-evaluation and determination to earn AACSB accreditation and I commend Kingston University for its dedication to management education as well as its leadership in the community," he said. "Through accreditation, Kingston University has not only met specific standards of excellence, but has also made a commitment to ongoing improvement to ensure the institution will continue to deliver high quality education to its students."
