Activity 1: Semantics, social media and social research
Social media is a vibrant space where people share opinions and debate key issues. Activity 2: Don't panic! Exploring the wild world of moral outrage
Join us as we explore the captivating world of moral panics – moments when society's fears and outrage go viral, often saying more about us than about the so-called 'threats' we face. From the frenzy of historical witch hunts to the moral backlash against 90s rave culture and even the controversy surrounding Dungeons & Dragons, we'll uncover the patterns that drive these episodes. Together, we'll examine how societies create villains, fuel hysteria, and eventually move on, leaving a fascinating legacy of fear, culture and control.
