Study music

Our music courses will enable you to develop, not only as music performers, researchers, teachers, producers, or composers, but also as musical individuals within a lively and interactive music community. You will have the opportunity to explore a range of musical styles and genres. You will even be able to start your own music ensemble and take a hands-on and creative approach to your postgraduate degree.

Our specialist, purpose-built facilities include recording studios, rehearsal rooms, a synthesis/sampling lab, and the analogue/digital hybrid Visconti Studio which has a 300m² live room and, rare and vintage recording equipment.

You will be taught by academic staff with professional industry experience and have the opportunity to attend masterclasses and workshops with performers and composers. You will be able to tailor your course to your specific interest through option modules and further develop your musical knowledge and practical skills relevant to a wide range of careers. Legendary music producer, Tony Visconti, hosts a winter school and regularly contributes to the teaching on the course. Alongside guest lectures and performances on campus, you will have access to a multitude of music events in the Greater London area and be able to engage with the Kingston community via music outreach programmes throughout the year.
