The Faculty of Health, Science, Social Care and Education brings together courses in science, education, health and social work at our Kingston Hill campus and Penrhyn Road campus.
All courses combine essential practical experience with your university education. Depending on your course, you could spend up to half your learning time on practice placements.
Our health, science, social work and education students benefit from our practising experts, an extended community and opportunities to network with professional bodies, schools, local authorities and companies.
You will also use virtual environments and simulated scenarios to gain the skills you need to put your knowledge into practice.
Our facilities include a Social Work Practice Learning Suite which is purpose-built for students to learn and practise key skills. State-of-the-art nursing and midwifery skills labs and simulation suites replicate a hospital ward, GP practice and birthing room.
Education students benefit from over 100 years of experience in the education and training of teachers, as well as facilities for practising lessons before taking them into school.
Rick splits his time between teaching a range of modules in pre- and post-qualifying courses, leading on various research projects and working with others within the department to develop new ideas for research and scholarship.

“Kingston University is one of the few universities in the country that requires students to work at two separate trusts for their practical placements. This makes the experience and exposure to midwifery work more varied.”
Our extensive links with leading healthcare and research laboratories provide the opportunity to enhance your learning and work with companies like GlaxoSmithKline and the Institute of Cancer Research.
Develop practical skills and use industry-standard equipment in our £6.8m laboratories. Courses are taught by internationally-recognised researchers, ensuring your learning reflects current practice.
We're ranked No.2 in the UK for education (Guardian University Guide league table 2022), and offer a wide range of degrees in specialist areas including early years, primary and special educational needs teaching.
