Research project: Sustainability as a Means of Decolonising Fashion in India

Abstract

While there is literature available on sustainability in India there isn't much research thathas been done to explore the implications of Indian sustainability practises on decolonisingfashion and how the two are closely interlinked. The research on both these intersecting concepts is limited and fragmented. The research project aims to fill this gap in study bybreaking down exploring how the Indian fashion identity and sartorial heritage providesculturally embedded solutions for creating sustainable fashion through a focus on culturalsustainability in the context of decolonising fashion in India.
