Research project: Organisational Transition in Private Art Galleries

Abstract

The purpose of my research is to establish what organisational processes lead new art galleries to successful entrepreneurial ventures. On the basis of these processes, I intend to design a set of entrepreneurial management solutions aimed at sustainable wealth creation in art galleries. The main research question is: what components of entrepreneurial management can lead to sustainable success and how to apply these components in new art galleries to exploit their business potential?

Biography

I became interested in philosophy and fine art at the secondary school in Vilnius, Lithuania. I studied philosophy at Vilnius University (BA and MA). Then I studied management at Hochschule Bremen, University of Applied Sciences (MA, Siemens Scholarship) and additionally learned German language. I worked as a general business consultant and legal/business translator from/to Lithuanian/German/English/Russian for the largest part of my professional life. I co-owned and developed several businesses. Since 2007, I have been regularly writing about various aspects of the art market for Lithuanian cultural and business publications and, occasionally, for London webzines. Several years ago I started looking for possibilities to link the hobby of researching the art market with the interest in scientific analysis. This decision eventually brought me to Kingston Business School where I enjoy working towards my PhD.
