Research project: National Consciousness in Pre-Modern China

Abstract

According to theories of modernism in the study of nations and nationalism, nationalism as a doctrine and collective attachment became only possible since the modernisation in Euro-American region. My thesis proposed that the study of national consciousness in China and East Asia could bring a different insight on this issue.
