Research vital for product development says Kingston University expert


Peter Christian, Business Development Manager for the Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture at Kingston University, appeared in the November 2009 edition of idFX Magazine commenting on the importance of research in developing products.

The article, Vital Statistics, explores how surveys commissioned by manufacturers, industry bodies and the government are throwing new light on the way people use, furnish and feel about their homes.

Designer Peter Christian, who recently joined Kingston University to help develop enterprise and research links with business, emphasised the important role that universities play in assisting businesses with their product development through research.

‘My aim is to involve industry, to encourage them to come to us and try us out. Some PhDs have been done at Kingston in collaboration with external partners, so it can be done. We also have a team that places graduates in companies through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership scheme. We just need businesses to tell us what relevant research they need.'
