Declan Hamblin

About

I am Course Lead for the Secondary PGCE Programme having previously worked with numerous London school staff as part of a school sport partnership and led school departments and been a Borough Advisor for physical education. I am an experienced tutor in teacher and coach education courses. I am former Vice-Chair of the Association for Physical Education. I am able to foster strategic partnerships for reciprocal gain, be it with community or national bodies. My extensive overseas experience has seen me work in pre-school settings right through to university. My pragmatic approach facilitates projects from conception through to sustainability.

I am a doctoral student who is interested in researching the inclusivity of physical education for all communities using the Meaningful Physical Education framework.

Business, knowledge transfer and international

I have exceptional interpersonal skills and communicate effectively. I have arranged team development days for School Sport Partnerships, Teach Meet events, produced podcasts, written blogs along with establishing a Practitioner's Network. I am a Tutor for educational programmes for England Athletics and the Youth Sport Trust. All these events, in addition to my teaching responsibilities at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, have allowed me to refine my coordination, organisational and communication skills to ensure learner feedback is positive.

I have provided consultancy work for a new school to plan their physical education curriculum, engaged in work for the Youth Sport Trust in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to develop the knowledge and expertise of their leading PE practitioners and my time in the Caribbean led to many opportunities to collaborate, engaging with public and private funding to achieve goals, for example, the redevelopment of Eden Park Sports Park, St. Mary, Jamaica.
