Dr Amy Mitchell


I have a practitioner background in youth justice and my professional interests lie in rehabilitation, penology, feminist criminology, and social justice. I am the course director for the ‘MA Criminology' and ‘Criminology with Forensic Psychology' programme, and I teach Level 4 ‘Foundations in Criminological Theory', Level 5 ‘Youth Crime and Deviance', Level 6 ‘Applied Criminology/Sociology', Level 7 ‘Punishment History and Meanings' and Level 7 ‘Understanding Criminal Careers'. I have particular interests in education in prison, its role within penal institutions, and its ability to aid rehabilitation and desistance from crime.
