Dr B. Steve Robinson

Senior lecturer in Clinical Immunology and Course Director

After graduating with a BSc in Biochemistry with Chemistry (2.1) from University of Hull in 1984, I completed a PhD in Dept of Medicine (Medical Microbiology- Virology) while working as a research Assistant in Virology Dept at University of Southampton at Southampton General Hospital.

My research included studies in vaccine development and Immunopathology for Respiratory Syncytial virus. Subsequently I worked as a post-doctoral RA and Research Fellow in the Dept of Medicine. I also developed novel diagnostic assays for other viruses including VZV and Rhinoviruses and worked on projects investigating roles of virus infection in asthma.  This work included human clinical trials of vaccines and antivirals in collaboration with the MRC Common Cold Unit and subsequently human trials studying the pathology of rhinovirus infections.

In 1992 I moved to a teaching career and I managed University of Surrey validated MSc courses in Virology Immunology and Biomedical science at Nescot.

I joined Kingston in 2009.
