Miss Jo Leahy

Since graduating from Trinity Laban with a 1st Honors and completing a PGCE, my  professional work has spanned performance, choreography, directing, education, rehearsal directing and mentoring for a wide range of companies, artists, festivals, theatres and educational institutes both in the UK and Europe.

My inspiration and passion for the creative sector stems from working and training with artists and companies such as Dance 2xs, Avante Garde, Charlene Willets,  Kerry Nicholls, Tom Daley, Ella Mesma,  Theo Lowe,  Keneish Dance and Alesandra Seutin and in projects involving multidisciplinary art forms. My movement vocabulary has been inspired by working with a multitude of genres and influences including Jazz, Contemporary,  Hip Hop, Latin, and Physical Theatre.  I founded and produced Havering Dance Festival in Essex in 2019,  providing a community platform for industry workshops, networking and performance, for aspiring and professional dance artists. Alongside my choreographic work, I have taken on Programme Management  roles for Dance and Musical Theatre at Further & Higher Education colleges cross London and Essex. My work has been performed at many theatres across London and Internationally. Whilst lecturing and mentoring in Dance across different establishments, I am currently one of the Lead Jazz Faculty for Runway House, London- advanced programme for dance graduates and working artists.  I am  working alongside International Dance Artist and Guest Artistic Director, Alesandra Seutin  for Sadlers Wells flagship National Youth Dance Company, as assistant artist and  recently co- rehearsal directed her latest professional production Boy Breaking Glass in UK and Brussels  alongside Sade Alleyne in 2021.
