Mr Edwin Chamanga

Senior Lecturer in Primary Care and Tissue Viability

My nursing career began in 2004 with a Diploma in Adult Nursing and RGN qualification from Middlesex University London.

Post qualifying I went straight into Primary Care (community nurse- within a district nursing team).  I was later seconded to read for the District Nursing qualification as a specialist practitioner, graduated from City University London, with a BSc in Primary Care.  Whilst working in District Nursing I developed an interest in wound care and research. I undertook further studies to qualify as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Tissue Viability with a Masters in Skin Integrity Skills and Treatments from the University of Hertfordshire.  I was also fortunate to be awarded a fully funded research scholarship by the NIHR, which gave me an opportunity to read for a Masters in Clinical Research (MRes) at City University London.  During this time, my clinical career was flourishing.  Before joining full-time academia, I held a number of appointments in clinical leadership and management, responsible for a clinical budget for approximately £2M.

I am an active member of the Healthcare Education Research and Evaluation group. My current research interests include: healthcare workforce, wound care and BME attainment.

I am an active member of the Queen's Nursing Institute (QNI) and the International Collaboration for Community Health Nursing Research (ICCHNR).
