Mr Jon Chu

Senior Lecturer in Dance

Prior to working in Higher Education I was a musician and martial artist and danced professionally, after graduating from Leeds University, from 1998 to 2003 (often overlapping contracts with my studies at the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance and Millenium Dance in order to fund myself along the way).

I retired at the end of 2003 (needing surgery) and re-trained as a Personal Trainer and Sports Massage Therapist whilst rehabilitating myself and embarked upon a career within the Health and Fitness sector running my own company in the heart of London (Berkeley Square) from 2004 to 2009. During this time, in 2007, I was approached by my old friend (now Associate Professor) Jason Piper to join him in starting a brand new dance undergraduate degree here at Kingston University.

I became a full time lecturer here in 2009 and am still here.

It's Piper's fault. 😉
