Mrs Karen Elcock

Head of Programmes: Pre-registration Nursing / Deputy Head of School

About

I am an adult critical care nurse by background but have worked in nurse education for over 30 years where my main focus has been on practice education and more recently on the quality and governance of pre-registration nursing programmes. I love writing and have published widely in nursing journals and am the author of a number of books aimed at pre-registration nursing students. Linked with this I enjoy my role as a reviewer for the Journal of Advanced Nursing and Nurse Education in Practice which includes membership of their International Editorial Board. More recently I have had the pleasure of being a role model for women in higher education as part of the Aurora Leadership Foundation for Higher Education and a mentor on the university Equality Mentoring Scheme for female staff.
