I am a qualified social worker (registered with Social Work England) and practice educator, with 32 years' experience of working with children and families. I have been a social work lecturer here since 2004 and am a personal tutor and module leader. I am a Senior Fellow with the Higher Education Academy.
My specialist interests include Domestic Abuse, Safeguarding Children, Practice Learning, Simulated skills development and Solution-focused brief therapy. I set up and manage the social work skills lab on the Kingston Hill campus. I enjoy skills development and experiential learning and am passionate about involving people with lived experience of social work. I completed the university's MA programme for Professional Education and Training in 2010. As part of this, I undertook research for my dissertation on Work-Based Supervisors which was published in September 2012. I am a member of the British Association of Social Work (BASW) England Committee.
