Mrs Neesha Oozageer Gunowa

About

Neesha Oozageer Gunowa is a Senior Lecturer within the Community Nursing Team.  She now combines this role with that of PhD student at Oxford Brookes University on a Clinical Nursing PhD programme.  Neesha was previously Associate Matron at a large South London integrated Trust where she provided managerial and clinical professional leadership to district nurse teams.

Building her role as a clinician and educator, Neesha became a Queen's Nurse which acknowledges commitment to high standards of practice and patient-centred care.  Neesha is a registered District Nurse with qualifications in prescribing and diabetes.

Neesha has a Master's degree in Primary Care, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and is a registered teacher.  She is Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and an external examiner at Brighton University.  Neesha's doctoral work explores Pressure Injuries and people with Dark Skin Tones and her other research interests include community practice; community nursing; district nursing; diabetes management in the community and patient safety. 

Neesha won with her colleagues in 2015 The Student Nursing Times Award, Teaching Innovation of the Year Award and has previously been shortlisted for the Student Nursing Times Team of the Year Award - community.  Neesha is a Florence Nightingale Scholar and has published topical issues of community nursing and work on her PhD at various international conferences.
