I am Associate Professor in the Finance School and Course Director for MSc Property Investment but also lecture on the BSc Real Estate Management programme.
I am a Chartered Surveyor and practiced in the public sector before moving into teaching and research. I am an Assessor for the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I was a Teaching Fellow (2007-9) researching a project on enhancing employability for undergraduates. I am joint author of Property Construction and Economics, and Real Estate Appraisal, from Value to Worth.
My current research interests include impact of office design on employee profitability and health and well being. I was external examiner for UWE and currently for UCEM on their PG Investment programme. I also lecture to practitioners in finance on real estate.
Postgraduate Course Director Real Estate
I presented a paper on Impact of occupier needs on office design at the European Real Estate Society (ERES) conference in 2015 in Istanbul, Turkey which resulted in a published article in the Journal of Corporate Real Estate 2017.
I have supported and co-authored work on the Sustainable Property Appraisal Project which has been adopted by Investment Property Databank (IPD) as a basis of their new property sustainability index.
I am particularly interested in pedagogic research which formed the basis of my application for a Teaching Fellowship awarded in 2009 on strategies to enhance employment of surveying undergraduates and subsequently presented my findings at the JVET 9th International conference 8-9 July 2011 Oxford.
I have co-authored two successful text books used as standard texts on both undergraduate and post graduate courses. The text from Value to Worth has now been translated into Russian.
