Adult Nursing and trained at St George's Hospital, London. staff nurse in an Orthopaedic Trauma Unit for two years. Mental Health Nurse at Springfield University Hospital. Staff nurse post was in Acute Psychiatry, and as a Ward Manager of an Acute Unit in Oxleas MH Trust.

I then completed my Post Graduate Certfiicate in Education at Guilford University and my MSc in Health Psychology.The MSc enabled me to carry out a small clinical study exploring depressogenic beliefs and social support in severe recurrent depression. As a senior lectuer I continued to develop my interests in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and trained in anxiety and depression, workiing one day clinically with a small caseload. I then went on to undertake training in Psychosocial Interventions for Psychosis, again workimg clinically prior to being appointed Course Leader

My MSc Research focused on the role of Depressogenic thoughts and Social Support in Severe Depression. My research design used validated Psychological Assessment Tools and data was statistically analysed. My supervisor was Professor Kevin Gournay at the Institute of Psychiatry
