Head Start 2019

We will be delivering three Head Start events over the summer to allow all applicants the best possible opportunity to attend. Head Start is free to attend and you only need to attend one event from the dates listed below:

  • Wednesday 24, Thursday 25 and Friday 26 July 2019 held at our Penrhyn Road Campus *(Bookings for this event have now closed)*
  • Wednesday 31 July, Thursday 1 and Friday 2 August 2019 held at our Kingston Hill Campus
  • Wednesday 7, Thursday 8 and Friday 9 August 2019 held at our Penrhyn Road Campus

When making your choice about which event to attend, please keep in mind the campus where you will be based during your course.

Attendees are offered two or three nights free accommodation in our Seething Wells halls of residence, although students can opt to attend this event as day delegates also. In order to stay in the halls of residence you must be 18 years old or older.

Financial support is available to help with travel costs to attend our Head Start events. Further information on how to apply for this will be provided nearer the time of each event after your booking has been confirmed. If you are concerned that travelling costs may prevent you from booking and attending Head Start, please email the team via headstart@kingston.ac.uk for advice.

Head Start Express 2019

Head Start Express is a condensed version of our Head Start 3-day events, designed for those who are unable to commit to the three-day programme, and for those who are coming to Kingston University via Clearing. 

Head Start  Express is free to attend and you only need to attend one event from the dates listed below:

  • Wednesday 21 August 2019 held at ourKingston HillCampus
  • Monday 2 September 2019 held at our Kingston Hill Campus
  • Wednesday 5 September 2019 held at our Penrhyn Road Campus

*Accommodation will not be available during Head Start Express.*

Head Start Mature Learner Preparation Day 2019

All of our Head Start events are applicable to incoming students of all ages. However, if you are coming to Kingston University as a mature learner (aged 21 or over on 1 September before you start your course) you may prefer to attend this exclusive preparation day.

Our Head Start Mature Learner Preparation Day is free to attend and will be held on the following date:

  • Wednesday 11 September 2019 held at our Kingston Hill Campus

What will happen at Head Start 2019

  • Make new friends with other people who will also be new to Kingston University.
  • Get to know Kingston University and the surrounding area on our campus tours.
  • Take part in fun evening socials.
  • An exclusive question panel with key groups from the University (including Accommodation, Student Life and Health and Wellbeing teams).
  • Faculty introductions.
  • Useful advice sessions on managing budgets and finding part-time work.
  • Meet our Union of Kingston Students to find out how to get involved in university clubs and societies.
  • Special workshops for mature learners, disability and dyslexia support.
  • Learn about our learning resources centres (LRCs).
  • Opportunity to experience what it's like to stay in university accommodation.
