Head Start 2024

Bookings for Head Start 2024 will open in due course.

What will happen at Head Start?

Our Head Start programme will take place over the summer of 2024 between July and September. There will be a mixture of three-day and one-day events, held in-person at Kingston University, as well as an online event. All are completely free to attend. If you register for one of the three-day events then free accommodation in our halls of residence is available.

This is a great opportunity to prepare for life as an undergraduate student and receive lots of invaluable tips, advice and guidance delivered by members of staff from key areas of the University. You'll also be able to interact with current students, who'll give you an insight into student life from their perspective. By taking part in Head Start you'll feel more confident and better prepared to start your course.

Here's just a taste of what will happen at Head Start:

  • Meet current students and find out what it's really like to study at Kingston University.
  • Make new friends with other people who will also be new to Kingston University.
  • Take part in exclusive question panels with key groups from the University, including Accommodation, Health and Wellbeing and Money Advice teams.
  • Useful advice sessions about managing your own budget, and finding part-time work and placements.
  • Meet the Union of Kingston Students to find out how to get involved in clubs and societies.
  • Exclusive information for mature learners and mental health, disability and dyslexia support.
  • Learn about our libraries and the facilities they offer.
  • Get valuable study tips, advice and guidance about studying within Higher Education.
  • And much more...

Please take a look at the different Head Start events we will be offering.

Head Start three-day events (with accommodation available)

In order to take part you must be a Home student with a Firm offer for an undergraduate course at Kingston University.

Join us for an immersive experience to find out what being a student at Kingston University is actually like. This is a great opportunity to build connections with other new students and familiarise yourself with the University before you start your course. You will receive lots of information and guidance to help you feel confident and academically ready for your degree, as well as discovering what opportunities you can get involved in alongside your studies.

Our Head Start three-day events include the option of two nights' free accommodation in our Seething Wells halls of residence. Places for these rooms are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If the rooms are oversubscribed they will be prioritised for attendees unable to commute to the event each day. If you are travelling from a long distance we have a small number of rooms available for the night before each event.

Please note: you must be 18 or older at the time of the event to stay in the halls of residence.
