Clearing is part of the UCAS application process, allowing universities to fill any vacancies they may have on their courses following the release of results. It means that you have an opportunity to find a course to suit you, even if your results are not quite as expected.
You may find yourself in clearing if:
- You've changed your mind on what or where you would like to study, and have used Self Release.
- Your results didn't go to plan and you aren't accepted by your 'firm' or 'insurance' choices.
- You didn't receive any offers for a course from a university.
- You didn't apply for a university place but have now changed your mind.
- You rejected any offers you did receive because you changed your mind about the course or location you want to study.
