With around 2,000 new cases of cancer registered yearly in the Maltese Islands, Danika's new role leading Malta's innovative Cancer Care Pathways Directorate, sees her working on aspects of care to offer support, guide and help increase access to care for cancer patients. As part of its pathway, aspects of patient needs must be continuously explored as cancer has several implications towards family life, social life and consequently society in general.
Danika graduated from Kingston University with an MSc in Medical Imaging (Mammography) and has gone on to study for a PhD in Health and Cancer Care at the University of Stirling.
Judi Curtis, senior lecturer in Radiography and Danika's dissertation supervisor for her MSc said of her success: "I was always aware that Danika had the ability to achieve all that she wanted to. The establishment and excellent delivery of the breast screening programme in Malta was always her top priority and that she managed to fit in studies around this just shows how hard working and dedicated she is. Cancer care in Malta is in safe hands".
