A message from Kingston University Vice-Chancellor Professor Steven Spier, paying tribute to Her Majesty the Queen:
It is with deep sadness that we have learned of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and we extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family.
As a University situated within a Royal Borough, the loss of our Monarch is particularly poignant. Many of our students, staff and alumni will have their own cherished memories of her reign and will remember the impact she has made around the world since ascending the throne in 1952. I myself was pleased to meet Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh at a reception a few years ago at Canada House.
On behalf of our students, staff and alumni, I would like to pay tribute to her outstanding devotion and service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth over the past 70 years.The high esteem in which she was held across our community and lasting legacy of her enduring commitment to public service were clearly reflected during the recent Platinum Jubilee celebrations, which saw her become the first British Monarch to reach such an historic milestone.
