Mayor of London launches Green Growth Bootcamp

Posted Sunday 9 October 2011

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, headed to Kingston University on Thursday 13 October to launch the Green Growth Bootcamp, a series of workshops to help budding business brains who want to specialise in green enterprise.

To the delight of bystanders at the launch event, the Mayor took control of 'the Raptor' - a three-wheeled electric vehicle which was being showcased at the University.  The Mayor clearly enjoyed his spin on the £500,000 prototype and suggested it might be just the type of vehicle which could be used by stewards at the forthcoming London 2012 Olympics.

Tapping in to Kingston's expertise in entrepreneurship and sustainable design, the Green Growth sessions will be delivered by experts from the University. They are aimed at people setting up a new green venture, or those who want to take an existing business in an eco-friendly direction, to help them develop their ideas and hone their skills.

Kingston's Green Growth Bootcamp is the latest in a series of London-wide Business Bootcamps, co-ordinated by Capital Enterprise, which the Mayor hopes will help around 1,000 business hopefuls boost their chances of success.

The Green Growth sessions will take place at Kingston University during November, offering participants the chance to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of some of the University's leading experts in sustainable entrepreneurship.
