Quick tips about online payment

Below, you will find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about online payment of university related fees.

Is there a change for paying by card or instalment?

There are no charges for paying by card or instalment.

Should I choose Quick Pay or Bill Pay?

Both Quick Pay and Bill Pay can be accessed when selecting to pay by card online.

  • Quick Pay allows you to pay a specific invoice or pay a set amount onto your account.
  • Bill Pay enables you to view both your outstanding and paid invoices as well as select specific invoices for payment. You will need to register the first time you use Bill Pay.

What is my ID number?

The ID number required to pay online is the same as your student number. It consists of 7 numbers and can be found on almost all correspondence sent to you by the University.

Can I pay by instalments and when would they be due?

Tuition and accommodation fees can be paid via instalments but only if you have set up a direct debit.

Please note that you will need to set up a separate direct debit mandate for both tuition and accommodation and that they need to be against a UK bank account.

What should I do if I miss an instalment?

If you have failed to pay an instalment you are required to pay the overdue balance online immediately.

How do I set up a direct debit?

Setting up a direct debit is a quick and straight-forward process.

  1. Set up a direct debit using our secure e-payments (link opens in a new window).
  2. Enter your ID number, date of birth and read and accept the terms and conditions. Click the green ‘Continue' button.
  3. Select ‘Tuition Payments' or ‘Accommodation Payments' and then the direct debit option. Click ‘Continue'.
  4. Enter your UK current account details.

Once the mandate has been successfully submitted you will receive a confirmation email.

Please note: if you wish to set up direct debits for Tuition and Accommodation fees, you will need to go through the procedure twice to set up a direct debit mandate for each.

Can I cancel my direct debit?

You can cancel your direct debit but please be aware that if you still have an outstanding balance for your tuition or accommodation fees this will remove your right to pay by instalment and the remaining balance will be due immediately.

Can you take my failed direct debit payment again?

We can only request the payment from your bank on the predetermined instalment dates so you will need to pay the missed instalment online.

How can I view my Balance?

Your current balance can be viewed through Bill Pay which can be accessed by selecting the card payment option.

I've received a notification that my payment has failed, what should I do?

If you have had notification of a failed instalment please check that your direct debit is still in place by contacting your bank to avoid issues with future instalments. In the interim you will need to make a payment online for the missed instalment.

What is RCP?

A recurring credit card payment or RCP, also referred to as a Continuous Payment Authority (CPA), is an authorisation provided by the card holder that permits the University to take payments from them by either debit or credit card.

Unlike direct debit which requires a UK bank account, a RCP can be set up on an international card if required.

How do I set up a RCP?

Setting up a recurring card payment (RCP) is a quick and straight-forward process.

  1. Set up a RCP using our secure e-payments (link opens in a new window).
  2. Enter your ID number, date of birth and read and accept the terms and conditions. Click the green 'Continue' button.
  3. Select 'Tuition Payments' or 'Accommodation Payments' and then the RCP option. Click 'Continue'.
  4. Enter your card details.

Once the mandate has been successfully submitted you will receive a confirmation email.

Please note: if you wish to set up RCP's for both Tuition and Accommodation fees, you will need to go through the procedure twice to set up a RCP for each.
