Schools sit at the heart of their communities and they need to ensure they are providing students with the best possible education, with leadership that comes from the communities they serve. With thousands of school governor vacancies across the country - your skills are very much in demand.

This is why Kingston University Alumni have partnered with Governors for Schools who provide a free governor recruitment service for volunteers and schools across the country. They work on a skills-based matching system and will put you in contact with schools in your local area who are most in need of the skills and experience you bring. They have dedicated Partnership Managers to manage the process and help you settle in to the role with additional free training and learning opportunities.

School governing bodies have three core roles:

  • Setting the vision and strategic direction for the school
  • Holding the head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school
  • Ensuring financial probity and that the school is making best use of its money

If you think this might be a great voluntary role for you, please visit the governors for schools website for further information and to apply.
