Research project: Brain and cognitive function in schizophrenia

Abstract

In this research project, the aim is to evaluate abnormal brain functioning in individuals with schizophrenia and explore cognitive functioning using standardised neuropsychological assessments.

Biography

After completing my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Kingston University with a First-Class in July 2023, I embarked on an MPhil/PhD programme in the department of psychology under Dr Nora Vyas's supervision, to study brain functioning and cognition in schizophrenia. As an undergraduate, I worked as a research assistant for a project where I learnt about the research process from data collection and assisting in protocol preparations to operating EEG to study brain oscillations. I have gained skills in conducting and writing up a meta-analysis and have had an opportunity to be the lead author for this work.
