Mr John Futcher

Research project: Working Title - Investigation of the use of Image Processing and Machine Learning techniques to monitor Varroa mite infestation in Honey Bee Colonies

How can advanced technology to help monitor Bee Health be put into the hands of the hobby beekeeper.

My main career has been in Information Systems Development, undertaking most roles on projects in the Manufacturing, Publishing and Logistics sectors.

More recently I have taken up teaching.  Having volunteered with Action Tutoring on their GCSE projects, I gained a Prof. GCE and then taught Mathematics and Programming to FE and HE students at NESCOT.

I took up beekeeping in 2010, and act as mentor to other beekeepers.
