I began my working life as a disillusioned art school graduate and entered teaching as a stepping stone to art therapy. However, I realised that I had found my passion and vocation in education, so there I stayed. I worked for over 15 years in one of the largest Primary schools in London before moving to Kingston University in 2011
I originally joined Kingston as a member of the Primary Mathematics team; my mission was, and still is, to develop students' mathematical confidence and creativity, exploring personal and teacher identity within this subject. I lecture on the PGCE programme at both Level 6 and 7, as well as working as part of the Professional Practice team on the PGCE and BA. In addition to this I am personal tutor on the PGCE course and support students in settings during placements.
Since joining Kingston I have been PGCE Course Leader, ITE Partnership Lead and am now Head of Department for Teacher Education. I am passionate about ensuring a high quality student experience within the ITE department and educating teachers of the future.
