For most of us, our will is one way of looking after the people we care about. We leave them something to make sure they're okay when we're gone. It is also a way of looking after the causes we care about; making sure that the organisations we are passionate about in our lifetimes continue to flourish and excel.
Your gift will help to ensure that Kingston University continues to nurture talented young people with the ability to succeed, from all backgrounds. You can help us to extend the opportunities that you enjoyed and valued at Kingston to future generations of young people, whether that's 10, 20 or 30 years from now.
Legacy gifts take forward Kingston University's capacity to make a genuine difference to people and society by training the next generations of teachers, geologists, engineers, nurses, radiographers, scientists, lawyers, architects, surveyors, artists, writers and designers (to name but a few). We are also the number one university in the UK for training and nurturing entrepreneurs, who go on to employ thousands of people across Britain (HE BCI Survey 2014).
The University's current needs and priorities are not necessarily those of the future. You can ensure that your gift has maximum impact by directing your legacy to the area of greatest need at the University. This allows it to be used where funds can make the greatest difference, and could prove vital if statutory support for higher education continues to be squeezed.
Your legacy could help fund a scholarship to support talented students, no matter what their financial background. Kingston University is privileged to have a hugely diverse student population, many of whom need support to strive for academic achievement free from worry or financial hardship. For example, Kingston leads the sector in recruiting and retaining local authority care leavers. You could also direct your gift to funding academic posts to help sustain excellent teaching and research standards.
You can specify where you want your gift to be directed. Many of our alumni are passionate about supporting the school or department that started them on their career path. We would love to talk to you about your gift before you write your will. This will your wishes are expressed in a way that guarantees they can be carried out in future years.
Gifts of a significant proportion of an estate can be held in an endowment by Kingston University and dedicated to the area of the greatest importance to you. This will ensure your funding continues in perpetuity.
