Tickets for graduation ceremonies held by Kingston University

You must have a ticket if you want to attend a graduation ceremony. It might seem strange that you have to get tickets to your own graduation, but we need to know numbers to ensure there's enough space and facilities for everyone who wants to attend.

You are advised not to make any travel or accommodation arrangements until you have received your invitation email and are sure you are eligible to attend your ceremony.

Cost of tickets

  • Graduate tickets: free of charge – but you need to book so we know you are attending your ceremony
  • Guest tickets: £27 per person (including VAT)

Graduate and guest tickets

Booking is now open via OSIS.

You are advised not to make any travel or accommodation arrangements until you have received your invitation email and are sure you are eligible to attend your ceremony.

How to book your tickets

When you have received your invitation email from the graduations team, confirming the date and time of your graduation ceremony, and that booking is open, you can log in to OSIS to book your own place and up to two guest tickets.

When ordering your tickets via OSIS, you'll be asked for your:

You must provide details of any access requirements for you and/or your guests, when you are booking. If we don't know your requirements in advance, we cannot guarantee that we'll be able to accommodate them on the day.

Please note: By booking tickets to a graduation ceremony, you agree to adhere to the University's graduation ceremony policies terms and conditions.

Confirming your ticket order

You should receive two email confirmations, when you book your tickets:

  • payment confirmation;
  • booking confirmation with further information about your graduation ceremony.

If you don't receive a confirmation email, it might be that the booking process wasn't completed. Please log back into OSIS to check your booking.

If you are at all unsure and have any queries, please tell us immediately by completing our online query form.

Guest tickets

Guest tickets cost £27 each. You can buy up to two guest tickets initially.

Need extra tickets?

After the booking deadline passes (12 June 2024) we will assess the amount of tickets still left to purchase for each ceremony. If there are extra tickets, these will be available via OSIS from Monday 24 June 2024. If you are on the waiting list, you will receive an email notification stating whether there are extra tickets you can purchase in addition to those you have bought already. (To join the waiting list, complete the box on OSIS during booking which asks how many further tickets you would like; please note however that whatever you put in, this is not guaranteed.)

Extra tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, and may run out before the deadline.

You can bring children, but the ceremony can last for up to an hour and a quarter, so it's not advisable to bring very young children.

Children must also be accompanied at all times and never left unattended at any venue.

Children cannot sit with graduates; they must sit with guests. We ask that they're taken out of the auditorium if they disrupt the ceremony.

Children older than three years will need a ticket (priced £27) as they need to have their own seat.

Children younger than three years (i.e. a child aged two years and 11 months) can have a free ticket. The free ticket will be available from the ticket collection desk on the day of the ceremony.

Buggies and pushchairs

There is no space in the Rose Theatre auditorium for buggies and pushchairs, so we ask that they are left at home or in the Theatre's foyer during the ceremony (on the day, please ask a member of staff where they can be left).

Graduation Support Fund

We understand that some students may be unable to attend their graduation ceremony if they cannot meet the cost of tickets for their guests and/or gown hire. Students who are facing financial hardship, and who meet specific criteria, have the opportunity to submit an application to receive up-to-two guest tickets and gown hire free-of-charge from the Graduation Support fund for their ceremony day.

Read more about the Graduation Support Fund and the eligibility criteria.

If you find yourself in financial difficulty, you may wish to consider applying to the Student Support Fund (via MyKingston). For details about this fund, and other financial support available, please visit the Money pages on MyKingston for more information.

We can only offer a refund if you do not achieve your award in time for your ceremony.

Guest tickets are non-refundable, so please do not purchase any guest tickets you may not require, as we cannot offer a refund in any other circumstances.

The University cannot be held liable for any costs incurred for travel or accommodation arrangements made by graduates or guests under any circumstances.

If you have already ordered your gown but can no longer attend the ceremony, read our gowns page to find out about getting a refund from our gowning supplier.
