Catching up with... Elemi Atigolo

We catch up with Elemi Atigolo, a Partner at Clearwater Wealth Management,  Principal Partner Practice of St James's Place Wealth Management.

Elemi AtigoloWhen were you at Kingston and what did you study?

I did an Accounting and Finance MA and graduated in 2004.

Why did you choose Kingston?

I looked at other universities but Kingston really appealed to me because of its flexibility. Other unis wanted me to have a BA in a similar area to my chosen masters. But I'd done computing. So instead of having to do a BA in accounting, I spoke to the course leaders, proved to them that I was passionate and knowledgeable about this area, and they gave me a place. I also have really good friends who have gone down the Kingston route.

Sum up your memories of your time at Kingston in three words.

Fascinating. Educational. Growth.

What did you expect to do after graduating, and are you doing it?

I'm doing exactly what I wanted to do, working as a partner in a world-class wealth management company. I got the taste and just went for it. Next steps? I see myself staying in wealth management, possibly starting my own business.

What's your greatest achievement?

A vertical bungee jump! I have a fear of heights so it was great to conquer it. Next step? Out of an aeroplane skydiving.

What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?

Work hard and enjoy learning. You can benefit so much from lecturers, teachers and other students. Oh, and read ahead whenever you go into a lecture and seminar. That way you take things in a much stronger way!

What last made you laugh?

I'm always laughing!

What's your ideal weekend?

Spending time with my family and friends.  I need to make the best of my time away from the long hours that I spend in the city.

You're going to be stranded on a desert island:

What would be your luxury?

A mobile phone. Not least to call in a rescue.

What would be your food of choice?

Lobster. I love seafood.

And what would be your film?

The Pursuit of Happiness with Will Smith. A great uplifting message.
