This workshop is designed for doctoral students and early-career researchers (ECRs), to help them develop strategies to reach non-academic stakeholders within the context of their own research field.

A presentation from a leading academic will provide a framework on how best to engage with stakeholders, disseminate research and maximise its impact. Recently completed doctorates will share their experiences to demonstrate the practice of engaging with non-academic audiences; the challenges and benefits of doing so. The workshop is designed to be interactive and provide delegates with the opportunity to develop their own engagement and impact strategies.

Aims

• To help ECRs and doctoral students understand the importance of engagement and impact in their studies.
• To consider and discuss real examples of engagement and impact based on previous doctoral studies
• To develop plans to engage and generate impact from doctoral work.
• To exchange ideas and insight between delegates and facilitators.

Outcomes for delegates

• Improve your understanding of the significance of engagement and impact in doctoral studies.
• Understand how your own doctoral research can have impact on specific audiences.
• Develop your own strategies for engagement and impact.
