Research degrees open event – Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture

We are currently seeking applications within the following areas: Design Practice; Design for Sustainability; Social Design; Design Communications; Thinking Through Making; Fine Art Practice; Film Practice – History and Theory; Art, Design and Architecture, History and Theory Modern and Contemporary; Curating, Collections and Archives; Design Practice and Theory.

Details of AHRC funding will be presented at the open event.

Meet at reception, Knights Park campus:

  • 2.45pm: Registration, tea and coffee
  • 3.00pm: Welcome to research in the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (professor Louis Nixon, associate dean (research))
  • 3.10pm: Introduction to postgraduate research culture and AHRC funding opportunities (professor Fran Lloyd, director of postgraduate researchers)
  • 3.20pm: Introduction from research student directors (Architecture & Landscape: Dr Stephen Pretlove, Art and Design History: Dr Alexandra Stara, Design: Dr Paul Micklethwaite, Fine Art: Volker Eichelmann)
  • 3.30pm: Application processes and funding opportunities Q&A (Jane Nobbs, research and enterprise support manager, and Emerald Day, research student administrator)
  • 3.45pm: Current research student projects (short presentations from current research students)
  • 4.15pm: Subject area break-out groups and facilities tours
