Arthur Lasenby Liberty and the Society of Arts

Susan Bennett will be talking about Arthur Lazenby Liberty, founder of Liberty's in Regent Street, who was an active member of the Royal Society of Arts. This talk will look at his networks through his involvement in the work of the Society's Applied Arts Section, and his store's continuing connections through the RSA's Royal Designers for Industry.

Susan Bennett is the former RSA Curator/Archivist now Honorary Secretary and Editor, William Shipley Group for RSA History. Awarded Research History of Art MA by Birkbeck in 2004. For her research into the Faculty of Royal Designers for Industry Brighton University's Design Archives appointed her an Honorary Faculty Fellow in 2013. She was also a Member of the Expert Group for their Exploring British Design prototype project.
