Digital decisions: Understanding behaviours for safer cyber environments

Join us for the second Pracademics BarCamp on digital decision-making and risk-taking hosted by the Decision, Attitude, Risk & Thinking (DART) research group at Kingston Business School. The Pracademics BarCamp will address the human dimension in issues arising from increasing digital interconnectedness with a particular focus on cyber security risks and cyber safety in web-connected organisations. The BarCamp will aim to shed light on these issues by bringing together behavioural scientists with expertise in judgment and decision-making research together with practitioners and stakeholders who seek to better understand and influence behaviours and foster a safer cyber environment for all.

The following issues will be discussed in particular:

  • How do individuals respond to risks in a digital environment?
  • To what extent do business owners and employees heed expert advice?
  • How can people be persuaded to buy into security measures to improve data security?
  • How do people conceive digital risks? How should digital risks be communicated to foster good security decisions?
  • How can behavioural decision science help better understand people's digital decision-making and risk-taking?

The DART Pracademics BarCamp is an open, participatory workshop-event aiming to promote interactions and knowledge sharing between academics and practitioners.

We gratefully acknowledge the help we received from Ms Adele Roberts-Hunt, Innovation Relationship Manager at the Research and Innovation Support Office for bringing in industry participants in the afternoon panel discussion.
