Team Working in the Digital Age

The Occupational and Business Psychology Engaging with the Profession, a quarterly series, seeks to address key issues in our profession and provide a vital opportunity for discussion, development and networking to students and practitioners alike.

'Team Working in the Digital Age' is the second event in the 2016/17 series is entitled 'Team Working in the Digital Age'. The evening will explore advances in social and digital technologies and their role within organisations, with a particular focus on team working. This promises to be an exciting evening with thought provoking presentations, followed by a Q&A session and ending with drinks, canapés and networking.

Event speakers

Laura Keith, Learning and Development Programme Director at Hive Learning will be chairing this event. Laura will give an overview of the academic literature on team work and introduce the Hive peer learning app for business

Michael Silverman, Managing Director of Silverman Research, is a Psychologist and opinion research specialist with a focus on social collective intelligence. He has worked in academia and commercial research as well as working in-house at Unilever as Head of Employee Insight before establishing Silverman Research in 2010. Michael will provide an overview of the area of collective intelligence in organisations:

  • What is social collective intelligence and how is it being impacted by the rise of social and digital technologies
  • How organisations are developing and using collective intelligence tools to address a variety of business issues
  • Challenges to overcome in designing and using collective intelligence tools in an organisational context
  • Relevant case studies from Unilever illustrating the application of collective intelligence in organisations
