Taking the Lonmin-Marikana Battle for Justice to UK

The Anglican Bishop of Pretoria Jo Sekoa and an international team will speak to Kingston staff, students and the local community whilst they visit London in order to make complaints to mining corporation Lonmin at their shareholder annual meeting, concerning the corporation's inadequate response to the Marikana Massacre. The special focus of the visit is to secure a commitment by Lonmin to a programme of social housing, affecting miners' families, the widows of the 34 miners shot dead in the Marikana Massacre on 16 August 2012, and the community in general.

There will be briefings by Andy Higginbottom on ‘The UK - South Africa Mining Connection: Latest Chapter' and Rex McKenzie on ‘South Africa's Neoliberal Embrace'.
