Jazz First Tuesday: Theo Jackson

Kingston University continues the first Jazz First Tuesday lunchtime session of 2017 with the talented vocalist and composer Theo Jackson. While his heart belongs to jazz, Theo Jackson's soul lies in music that can cross boundaries and genres. His debut album - Shoeless and the Girl - features fresh and original songs with a distinctive voice, drawn from the imagination of a natural story teller. From the tale of a lovelorn tortoise to the homeless man of the title track, his songs have an ethereal, other-worldly quality and yet they are grounded in reality. Theo will also be showcasing exciting new material at this gig. Expect sizzling swing and a sense of fun.

"Jackson has successfully taken the art of songwriting and placed it firmly into the jazz genre." Jazz in Europe.

"A genuine jazz talent... it is safe to say he has a bright future." Jazz Journal.

"One of the most interesting vocalists and composers to emerge on the British scene in recent years, Jackson can flit between ballads and rapid-fire scatting in the blink of an eye." The Daily Telegraph.
