Social Work and Social Care seminar: Understanding Child Welfare Inequalities: Six UK Case Studies

This seminar reports on a component of the large, Nuffield funded study, the Child Welfare Inequalities Project (2015-17).
Using an integrated methodology six case studies were conducted in child protection services, within a selection of English and Scottish local authorities.

The case studies focused on:

The interplay between families' social, economic and material circumstances and the decision, by children's services, to intervene where there were child protection concerns; Investigating the inverse intervention law.
