Institute of Mechanical Engineering Seminar: The Decommisioning Proposition

Following his highly successful talk last year on the topic of Python scripting, Graeme Roberts, Engineering Consultant from Subsea 7, returns to deliver another interesting technical to GLR South West Area members. Join us for our 2017 Christmas event as Graeme gives an overview of abandonment and decommissioning of offshore structures and pipeline systems.

It is an inevitable consequence of operation that offshore hydrocarbon reserves become depleted and infrastructure made redundant.  Abandonment and decommissioning presents as either a necessary burden or business opportunity.  Historically, there has been far more said about decommissioning than has been done but this situation is changing.  This talk is an introduction and it is hoped that it will be of general interest, demonstrating that working effectively and safely with the complexities and hazards associated with decommissioning could be motivating and rewarding.

You will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues with the speaker and others at the end of the evening.
