The Department of Law and the Law Society at Kingston University are inaugurating a new series of talks with illustrious guests, open to the general public. This is a lighthearted opportunity to learn from professionals and experts in law and related subjects not only about their specialist expertise but also about the challenges they met during their career.
The first talk will take place on Monday 26 February 2018 at 7.00pm in the Clattern Lecture Theatre. Our guest will be Leslie Thomas QC.
A Kingston law alumnus, Leslie is a leading expert in claims against the police and other public authorities and claims against corporate bodies, with expertise across the full spectrum of civil wrongs, human rights, data and privacy claims. He is an expert in all aspects of inquests and inquiries, having represented many bereaved families, in particular where there has been abuse of state or corporate power. Leslie has been with Garden Court Chambers for most of his professional life.
As well as his extensive legal practice, he lectures widely to various organisations including coroners, universities, schools, pressure groups and non-profit organisations. He is an advocacy trainer for the Inner Temple and organises and conducts training courses for solicitors, barristers and coroners. He has previously worked as a lecturer at the University of Westminster, Kingston University, London and the Open University.
He has a passion for motorcycles and playing the tenor saxophone.
Booking is essential to attend this event.
